Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, but unfortunately – for administrative reasons – you will have to book and pay for each course or workshop as a separate transaction.

No. While our material is founded on sound academic research and contemporary theory, we are not an academic institution, nor do we aim to be. We believe in inspired, self-motivated and self-directed learning, so we don't give you prescribed homework or make you write exams, and we do not hand out certificates.

Unfortunately, refunds after attendance of a course or workshop are not possible. This is to protect our intellectual property. However, we would like to reassure you that HeadSpark has done everything in its power to ensure quality products and services. Our facilitators are professionally qualified and highly skilled and our material is proprietary and original. We also welcome all constructive criticism and helpful suggestions to change and improve those aspects of our courses and workshops which do not fully satisfy our customers.

We have the utmost confidence in our e-commerce service providers. Please see our Terms and Conditions for more detail.

A suitably qualified replacement facilitator is ready to stand in. Rest assured, though, that should something drastic goes wrong, the company will refund you immediately and in full.

Of course! See www.tajadaguesthouse.com for an accommodation option. Travel costs are for the delegates' own account and must be organised by the delegate. If you prefer not to travel, see Our courses to find out which of our courses and workshops are available via e-correspondence. Bookings and payments for e-correspondence courses can only be made by e-mailing morne@headspark.co.za directly with your enquiry.

Yes. All of these are included in the price per person. However, our half-day workshops only have a tea break and ends before lunch.

All of our courses and workshops are presented in the tranquil and homely Tajada Guest House, 9 Blackpool Road, Bryanston, Sandton. Visit www.tajadaguesthouse.com. Overnight accommodation for out-of-town delegates can be arranged here for the customer's own account. Please contact them directly at the details provided on their website.

Given our strong online focus and our drive to keep costs down, HeadSpark rents office space in a private home. However, we are happy to meet potential customers or partners at a formal or informal venue of their choice.

While HeadSpark strives to have a synchronous relationship with all literary agents and publishers, we are an independent learning organisation. However, we do offer a Book Doctor's Report and Recommendation for outstanding manuscripts which we believe are publishable. This letter of recommendation will not be addressed to any particular publisher, though, and expresses our professional, independent, opinion on the quality of the work.

A course lasts two full days, from 09:00-16:30 and is attended in groups at our learning venue in Sandton. A workshop lasts either a single day from 09:00-16:30, or a morning from 09:00–12:30. The theoretical and practical content of an e-correspondence course is the same as its corresponding course or workshop, but is divided into two or four theoretical and practical modules. These are e-mailed to you once a week, after which you respond with the completed practical exercises to be edited and reviewed by the facilitator. A correspondence course commences the moment we have received confirmation of payment, and proceeds at your own pace. Correspondence courses offer the benefits of personal attention, an easy pace and detailed feedback on written work, whereas the workshops and courses offer group interaction, face-to-face contact and immediate in-class exercises and responses. Also see Our courses to find out which of our courses and workshops are available via e-correspondence.
